Shannon Purser and Noah Centineo described the first time they met—"It was like speed dating"
Shannon Purser and Noah Centineo may have just played love interests in the new Netflix romantic comedy Sierra Burgess is a Loser, but the pair have amazing chemistry offscreen, too. In a new video for Glamour, the stars attempted to tell the story of how they first met—and while it may have involved a little internet stalking, there was no catfishing in sight.
At the beginning of the video, Purser admits she wasn’t familiar with Centineo (aka the internet’s favorite boyfriend) prior to meeting him for Sierra Burgess. However, Purser admitted to doing some “light stalking” online beforehand, adding that she also watched “a little bit” of Centineo’s show The Fosters.
But while Purser wasn’t familiar with Centineo, he revealed that not only did he know who she was, he was very much on the #JusticeForBarb train.
While Purser and Centineo initially really struggled to recall when they first met, they finally got around to remembering their first encounter at their Sierra Burgess screen test. In terms of who approached who first, they remained divided. While Purser maintained that Centineo walked up to her first, he thought she was the one who approached him.
“I was definitely a little bit nervous when I met Noah for the first time,” Purser continued. “I don’t remember what he said, but I’m sure it was something charming. I found it so easy, to like, be myself around him and get to know him. […] Also, I was freaking out because I knew I was gonna have my first onscreen kiss in this movie.”
While they may be a bit fuzzy on the details of their first meeting, the pair clearly hit it off, and we’re absolutely giddy over this interview.
Sierra Burgess is a Loser is currently streaming on Netflix.
