Selena Gomez's new haircut was inspired by "The Rachel," and we're feeling nostalgic
If you caught Selena Gomez on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday, March 9th, you probably said to yourself, “Wow, Selena’s hair looks good.” TBH, we’ve been saying that a lot lately. She’s been doing the curly shag look for a minute (a look we love), but this time around, Gomez pulled out a smooth, layered style for her Kelly Clarkson Show appearance. And if it’s a style you recognize, there’s good reason. According to Gomez’s hairstylist, it’s a little bit Rachel Green and a little bit Elise Elliot.
“Selena on @kellyclarksonshow today! It’s a great interview so be sure to watch!” stylist Marissa Marino captioned a March 9th Instagram.
“Hair inspo was ‘The Rachel’ meets Goldie Hawn in First Wives Club,” Marino added.
Okay, we didn’t know we could ask our hairstylist for that mashup. Now we want—no, need. Both Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green on Friends, and Goldie Hawn in The First Wives Club had feathered layers that framed the face. Though Rachel’s hair was often parted on the side, Hawn did the middle part and bangs, which Gomez emulated in her recent appearance.
If you need a refresh, here is the inspiration behind Gomez’s cut and style:
Our trend senses are tingling. We have a feeling everyone is going to be asking for “the Rachel First Wives Club Goldie” (or maybe “the Rachel meets Goldie?”) next time they hit the salon.
If our cut looks anything like the look Gomez is sporting, we’ll be very happy campers.
