It finally happened! During May 10th’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, Amy and Sheldon got hitched. And as we all expected, it was a big episode. However, it turns out there was one special scene that ultimately was cut for time — and it involved Stephen Hawking.

As many will know, Hawking passed away on March 14th, 2018 from ALS at the age of 76. He’s known as one of the greatest physicists and cosmologists the world has ever seen. He was also a popular figure in pop culture and made several appearances on The Big Bang Theory. Apparently, the omitted scene entailed Amy and Sheldon receiving a wedding gift from Hawking sent before his passing. Showrunner Steve Holland said that they ran it by Hawking’s family, who were pleased with the scene.

And while we’re sad the scene didn’t air, there’s some good news: According to Today, the show’s creators plan to release it online soon.

Since the episode was a busy one, the Hawking scene wasn’t the only cut. There was also a phone call between Sheldon and his grandmother, Meemaw, that didn’t make it into the episode. Not that we’re complaining — the ep still had so many things we loved. We finally met Amy’s parents (played by Kathy Bates and Teller!), and Mark Hamill officiated the ceremony.

IOHO the episode is perfect as is (though we can’t wait to see that deleted scene).
