The OG Sabrina cast gushing about their show will make you want the Netflix reboot, like, yesterday
While we’re super excited to watch Netflix’s upcoming reboot of Sabrina, we still can’t help but feel nostalgic over the OG series we grew up with. Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a staple back in the 1990s to the early 2000s. Before we even knew who Harry Potter was, we watched Sabrina in total awe as she tried to harness her newly discovered magical powers with the help of her family and friends.
Sabrina, along with the rest of the Westbridge crew, had become sort of like a family to us, which is why we were unbelievably thrilled when Entertainment Weekly brought them back together to celebrate Sabrina the Teenage Witch‘s 15th anniversary.
“It owned a generation of girls,” says Nick Bakay, who voiced the snarky yet charming Salem, and he couldn’t be more correct. Apart from being enchanted with Sabrina’s magical prowess, we also learned all about life, love, and even style along the way!
Nell Scovell, the show’s creator, told EW it’s heartwarming to see that the show resonates with fans up to this day.
Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, the actresses behind quirky Aunt Hilda and stern but lovable Aunt Zelda shared the same sentiments.
Rhea thinks it’s “sort of a miracle” that Sabrina has retained its popularity, while Broderick says that there are still people who come up to her to say that they looked up to her as a parental figure. “I still have young women come up to me and say, ‘You were my childhood, you’re like my second mom. I listened to your advice when I was 9, and you were right.'”
Meanwhile, Melissa Joan Hart, who starred as the title witch, refers to Sabrina as one of the peak moments of her career.
Now, excuse us while we celebrate the show’s 15th anniversary by binge-watch all seven seasons — which are currently streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime — and continue our countdown to the Netflix reboot!
