The line between the actor Ryan Reynolds and the character Deadpool has blurred once again. It turns out that Ryan Reynolds played more than one character in Deadpool 2, and yes, there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the movie yet.

Ryan Reynolds is the actor behind your friendly neighborhood foul-mouthed mercenary, but he *also* played another key character in the film.

Marvel fans knew the hero Colossus would appear in Deadpool 2, but the studio kept the X-Men villain Juggernaut a secret even from the most hardcore fans. They hid it so well, in fact, that the Juggernaut character was only credited as playing himself in the film. So, who actually provided the face and voice of this icon? In yet *another* Marvel Easter Egg, it was Ryan Reynolds himself. Yes, in addition to starring in, producing, and co-writing Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds also appeared in the movie as Juggernaut. Unreal.

Deadpool 2 screenwriter Rhett Reese confirmed this casting decision to Comic Book Resource, and explained how they knew the Deadpool star was the right choice for the sequel’s surprise villain.

In a conversation with CBR, Reese explained that Reynolds was the only choice for Juggernaut. First, he was disappointed by the character’s portrayal in 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand. But he mostly wanted to portray a Juggernaut vs. Colossus fight that was worthy of the subject material.

Daddy deserves two chimichangas for that one. When does Ryan Reynolds find the time to sleep? Seriously, this Deadpool 2 marketing campaign has been over the top since the beginning. And I am so, so here for it.
