You can party like a royal wedding guest at this Harry and Meghan pop-up bar in the U.S.
Sure, you may not get an invite to the royal wedding, but that doesn’t mean you can’t party like you’re there. All you have to do is head to Washington, D.C.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Drink Company, the same group that also created a Game of Thrones pop-up bar in 2017, is launching a limited-run royal wedding pop-up for the next few weeks in D.C.
“It’s hard not to get swept up in the romance of a royal wedding, especially when it involves a modern, real-life fairytale,” Angie Fetherston, CEO of the Drink Company, said in a statement. “I’ve been a superfan of the royals since I was a kid and knew as soon as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged that we had to bring a slice of their day to all of the fans who want to experience a little bit of the fantasy — fascinators and all.”
As NBC reported, Drink Company is going all out on the decor to make it truly feel like guests are attending the wedding, including creating vaulted ceilings, multi-armed columns, and stained glass windows, just like those at St George’s chapel.
The Royal Wedding PUB is set to open May 4 on 7th Street NW.
It will remain open until May 20, the day after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry say their “I dos.”
“We want people to feel like they’re a part of this amazing day that celebrates love around the world,” Fetherston said.
At the bar, guests can enter to win a replica of the royal couple’s wedding cake, crafted by the British Embassy’s chef. Moreover, the menu includes 11 cocktails inspired by the entire royal family, which range from $13-14 each.
“Think: martinis, bubbles and Pimm’s Cups,” Paul Taylor, Drink Company’s head of bar concepts, said.
Other cocktails, Harper’s Bazaar noted, include the “God Save the Queen,” which is a martini served with a souvenir crown, and the “Strawberry Cuppa,” which is made with Scotch, Strawberry Vermouth, and is served in a tea cup with a shortbread tea cookie.
And, to make it even more special, the bar will open at 7 a.m. on the day of the royal wedding. On that day, all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Invictus Games Foundation, ensuring your love of the royals does some good for the world, too.
