This rhino joined Tinder for a very worthy cause
While you may think your dating prospects are slim, you have nothing on Sudan, the white northern rhino. He is the world’s LAST white northern rhino and desperate to find himself a partner. So obviously, this rhino joined Tinder for a very worthy cause — rebuilding his species.
Sudan is just like every other Tinder user out there. He’s sick of the small, or more accurately nonexistent, dating pool. So he decided to expand his search radius. And, like the most successful online daters, he’s being very clear with his intentions right off the bat. You can’t fault a guy for that!
The truth is that Sudan has been having trouble naturally inseminating his partners. While at a zoo, he was unable to properly mount his mates. Even after moving to a partially wild environment, Sudan’s sexual escapades never resulted in an offspring. That’s where Tinder comes in. They hope to raise enough money through the app that they can pay for a round of artificial insemination.
Sudan’s dating profile puts it all out on the line.
Now who wouldn’t want to help out someone being so honest?
In addition to raising money, when this rhino joined Tinder he started to raise awareness about this species endangerment. Northern white rhinos horns like Sudan’s sell for $50,000 per kilo. Making him a prime target for poachers and those who do not value biodiversity.
As shown above, Sudan’s days are numbered. Scientists hope that they can raise money to inseminate the last two northern white rhino females. Satu and Najin are their species last hope. So we sure hope they swipe right.
