Season after season, Game of Thrones keeps us tuning in to find out who will take the Iron Throne. But what if you could be the next ruler of the Seven Kingdoms? The upcoming computer/phone game Reigns: Game of Thrones will let you test your best strategies for keeping the people of Westeros in line—and it’s all based on Tinder-style swiping.
Game developer Nerial announced today, August 23rd, that it teamed up with HBO to create the upcoming PC and mobile game. According to The Verge, Reigns: Game of Thrones allows you to play as some of the series’ most beloved (or feared) characters. Players reportedly start the game as Daenerys Targaryen seeking to take her place on her father’s throne. As the game progresses, you can unlock other characters like Sansa, Tyrion, and even The Hound. To advance the plot (and keep the Iron Throne) you must swipe right or left to choose between potential actions. The game mechanics are similar to Tinder in that sense—only the fate of Westeros is at stake instead of your love life.
Gameinformer.com notes that Ramin Djawadi’s original score from the HBO series will set the mood in mini-games where players can joust or battle with their enemies.
Reigns: Game of Thrones is actually the third installment in the Reigns line of games, which was originally a choose-your-own-adventure game featuring a medieval kingdom. The sequel, Reigns: Her Majesty, made the kingdom a queendom (heck yes).
If you’re already trying to decide whether you’d dump Wildfire on the Sept of Baelor or if you’d rather focus on fending off the impending White Walker invasion, we’re right there with you. Reigns: Game of Thrones will be available for download this October on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Steam, with a price of $3.99. You can also preorder the game now.
We can’t wait for winter—um, October—to get here.
