Reese Witherspoon and Elizabeth Arden want to empower women, one red lipstick at a time
Who doesn’t love a bold red lip? It can turn a simple outfit into a statement, lift your mood, and make you feel powerful. If this speaks to you, then you’re going to love Reese Witherspoon’s March On campaign with Elizabeth Arden.
In honor of Women’s History Month and the renewed women’s rights movement, the iconic beauty brand is revamping its Red Door Red lipstick. The new packaging will feature Reese’s signature, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to UN Women. So not only will you stun in Elizabeth Arden’s trademark lipstick, but you’ll support a campaign that is dedicated to helping and celebrating women everywhere.
The iconic beauty brand has also been a longtime advocate of women’s rights — all the way back to when suffragettes were fighting for the right to vote. According to Arden lore (and a press release sent to HelloGiggles), the brand gave women red lipstick to wear as they marched. Wearing such a bold lip color wasn’t socially acceptable at the time, and now, so many decades later, red lipstick is still a sign of strength.
You can get the limited-edition Elizabeth Arden x Reese Witherspoon lipstick for $26.50.
The lipstick, in the classic shade Red Door Red, is already available on Elizabeth Arden’s website, so get on it, lipstick lovers.
In an interview with PeopleStyle, Reese explained how red lipstick can be powerful, saying:
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
While things are getting better for women, there’s still a lot of work to be done.
There are many ways to make a difference, and if we can make a small positive change with our makeup choices, we are happy to do so.
