Rami Malek and Jake Gyllenhaal have become Twitter’s latest meme, all thanks to a viral encounter a Malek fan posted to the platform this week. Twitter user “xan” tweeted about meeting the Bohemian Rhapsody actor Monday, October 29th, calling the experience “THE MOST EMBARRASSING THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME.” In the video, which has already amassed 74,000 likes and over a thousand comments, xan asks Malek to say hi to their friends.

“homeboy literally swiped my camera to Photo HIMSELF cause he saw it was a video nah im done with video messages,” xan wrote.

The admittedly uncomfortable encounter has gone viral, and Malek’s name began trending the morning of October 30th. And soon, Jake Gyllenhaal’s name also started trending, because he is also infamous for avoiding fan interactions.

While many of these jokes are in good fun (and xan was super polite to Malek), it’s important to remember that celebrities do have the right to privacy and are never under any obligation to stop for a pic. And sometimes they just might be having a bad day and don’t feel like meeting strangers.

Basically, no matter how otherworldly celebs may seem, they’re just normal human beings
