Olympic reporters say their makeup is freezing to their faces because it's THAT cold in South Korea
Having to go out during the cold, harsh winter months can be absolutely harrowing — our skin is dry, our lips are chapped, our makeup gets flaky, and our hair frizzes under our scarves. As if that weren’t bad enough, it seems that the reporters covering the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea have found themselves battling a whole new problem: Their makeup is freezing to their faces.
Yes, you read that right. It’s so cold in South Korea right now that one reporter put a call-out on Twitter to see what foundation and primer her reporters should be using since their water-based makeup is literally freezing. Olympic Champion and BBC Sports Reporter Amy Williams asked the Twitter community, and honestly, she should win a Gold Medal for cracking this case.
In case you happen to be somewhere seriously cold as well and could use some beauty product recommendations, Twitter came through with answers for Amy and the other reporters in South Korea.
The Twitter community suggested that reporters use oil- or silicone-based makeup products to avoid this problem. They recommended Giorgio Armani’s Designer Lift Smoothing Firming Foundation and Smashbox’s Primer Oil. And while some of these products are pricey, one Twitter commenter added that they would get the job done.
Amy explained the details about her now-viral tweet to Allure, saying,
We don’t even want to think about how cold it must in South Korea if this is happening to people’s makeup, but we’re glad Twitter came through.
