Since the devastating and heartbreaking massacre at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, amidst prayers and broken hearts, many are calling for gun reform.

The Josh Abbott Band performed during the festival, and Caleb Keeter, the band’s guitarist said he was a proud lifelong supporter of the second amendment until  Sunday night.

The country is divided on gun control, between those pleading for stricter gun laws and those who believe that legislation won’t keep a criminal from finding black market guns.

Keeter’s account is worth reading because many hold the belief that guns can be used for self-defense against an armed attacker. As Keeter writes, his crew members with legal firearms were completely useless against the Vegas gunman.

“[One man] laid waste to a city with dedicated, fearless police officers desperately trying to help, because of access to an insane amount of fire power,” he continued. “These rounds were powerful enough that my crew guys just standing in a close proximity of a victim shot by this fucking coward received shrapnel wounds. We need gun control RIGHT. NOW. My biggest regret is that I stubbornly didn’t realize it until my brothers on the road and myself were threatened by it.”

No matter where you stand on the gun debate, here’s how you can help the victims of this weekend’s attack.
