Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, March 12th, and a giggly exchange between the pair — seemingly in response to Liam Payne — is going viral.

For Markle, the Commonwealth Day service was only her second public event alongside Queen Elizabeth II, but that didn’t make her immune from her fiancé’s charms. When Liam Payne finished his rendition of John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change” for the assembled royal family, the former One Direction member proceeded to fist-bump his fellow musicians in congratulations.

Immediately afterwards, Prince Harry fixed his gaze on Markle and raised his eyebrows ever-so-subtly, causing her to laugh and then lower her head to stifle her reaction. But of course, cameras caught the playful moment.

While a number of outlets immediately drafted “Prince Harry Hates Liam Payne” headlines, the candid moment between the couple seems more sweet than snarky. It’s possible Harry was silently commenting on the juxtaposition between the traditional setting of Westminster Abbey and the casual fist-bumps of the performers. Or maybe Markle had once professed to Harry that she had an undying love of One Direction when the band was together. Perhaps the moment was utterly unrelated to anything that was happening around them. The point is, we really don’t know (as much as we wish we did).

Rather than over-analyzing what inspired the moment, we’re choosing to look at the footage as further proof that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are perfect for each other. It’s clear from Harry’s raised eyebrows and Meghan’s helpless reaction that the two enjoy one another’s company, and are more than comfortable joking around together.

This makes us want an invite to the lavish royal wedding more than ever.
