Pete Davidson says Donald Trump faked a phone call during an SNL table read, and yep, sounds about right
Back on November 7th, 2015, Saturday Night Live welcomed a guest host that people weren’t too psyched about: Donald Trump. Trump hosted the show in the midst of his presidential campaign. The cast members all have stories about it, but Pete Davidson’s is one of the strangest.
Davidson isn’t the first to open up about the bizarre week. Last October, during an interview with NPR, former SNL cast member Taran Killam referred to Trump’s hosting gig as “something that only grows more embarrassing and shameful as time goes on.” He continued, “There’s definitely something where it normalizes him and it makes it OK for him to be part of the conversation… And I think looking back…there’s nothing good I can take away from that week.”
Davidson told his tale on Complex’s Open Late, which is scheduled to air in full on May 17th at 10 p.m. He described Trump as being “weird all week,” and then launched into a story about how Trump faked a phone call during a table read. Davidson said that the phone didn’t even ring — Trump just picked it up, pretended to have a conversation, and then made an announcement. And apparently, he didn’t even allow enough time for the person who “called” to speak.
The whole thing sounds exactly like, well, an SNL sketch.
Watch Pete Davidson tell the full story below.
It’s completely ridiculous, but Davidson swears it really happened.
We’re glad the talented folks at SNL aren’t afraid to reveal what really went down during Trump’s uncomfortable week in Studio 8H.
