If you love every color in the Crayola box set, hopefully you’re not TOO attached to this one yellow hue. We just heard that Crayola is retiring Dandelion, and it’s admittedly kinda sad since it dates all the way back to 1990!

But times they are a-changin’, and we can deal with that (after the initial shock, at least). Mustard-yellow might be a tough sell and maybe it wasn’t for everyone…but we sure were fond of it. The GOOD news is that Dandelion will be replaced with a brand new color. But before we get into that, let’s give it up for dandelion one last time!

Here it is in all its glory, announcing early retirement (sad face) on National Crayon Day.

We wish Dandelion all the best with his “wildest adventure yet” — retirement!

via giphyThat newbie color hasn’t been revealed yet, but they let slip in a Facebook live event that it will be a shade of blue. Oh, the possibilities! Dark blue, sky blue, navy blue, turquoise, baby blue…WHAT’S IT GONNA BE?!

“[I] can share two pieces of new information, the first is that the new color will be part of the blue family, and the second is this summer we are going to invoke our fans to name the new color because we want you all to be a part of Crayola history,” said Melanie Boulden, the Senior Vice President of U.S. and global marketing, during  the Facebook Live event.

Basically, today is the day to celebrate all the crayons. Coloring party, perhaps? Haven’t had one of those in a while.

Happy National Crayon Day, and Happy Friday!
