Milo Ventimiglia revealed what he'd write on Jack's gravestone, just when you thought you were done crying
Two days after the most devastating This Is Us episode by far, we’re still mourning and failing trying to recuperate from — SPOILERS AHEAD! — the details about how Jack Pearson perished. Tears were shed, Wikipedia pages were altered, and now, it looks like we’re going to remain an emotional wreck, thanks to Milo Ventimiglia’s latest This Is Us revelation.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Milo Ventimiglia described some devastating details about filming that painful yet pivotal moment. He shared that Mandy Moore had no idea he would be lying in the hospital bed, and that she was initially under the impression that she was going to walk into an empty hospital room.
Wow. Thanks for that, Milo. Now we’re crying even more.
As if that weren’t upsetting enough, he went on to explain that he thinks his character knew that he wasn’t going to make it, and wanted to spare his wife from watching him die.
If you’re anything like us, your eyes are literally burning at this point.
To top it all off, Milo Ventimiglia shared what he would write on Jack’s gravestone, and it’s nothing short of perfect.
Seriously, it’s beyond exceptional.
And it’s true. Even in Jack’s final moments, the selfless patriarch made sure that Rebecca stifled a laugh before they parted (forever). And even in the afterlife, per Bec, Jack always “does something” to make her laugh on the anniversary of his death.
As for us, we’ll be here preparing our tear ducts for yet another cryfest. The next This Is Us episode (it airs tonight, February 6th) will include Jack’s funeral, and we can only imagine how devastating that will be.
Hold on to your Kleenex, people.
