Millie Bobby Brown just responded to the backlash over her friendship with Drake
When Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and rapper (slash noted Stranger Things fan) Drake met and snapped photos backstage at his concert in Australia last year, fans were here for it. And it seems the pair have since struck up an unlikely—and downright adorable—friendship. Brown recently opened up about their dynamic in an interview for W Magazine, revealing that they’re often in contact. “[…] We talk all the time,” she said. “I ask his advice.”
On the 2018 Emmys red carpet on September 17th, Brown dished that Drake even gives her advice about guys. “He’s a great friend and a great role model,” she told Access. “We just texted each other the other day. He was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ I was like, ‘I miss you more,’ he’s great.”
This, unfortunately, sparked some backlash and assumptions across the internet (because, well, it’s the internet).
And Brown has issued a direct response to the criticism via her Insta Stories, telling the media that there’s much more important things for the world to be talking about than her personal and supportive friendships.
While on the surface, the pair may not seem to have a lot in common, the rapper is acutely aware of the pitfalls of growing up in the public eye. Drake was an original cast member on the wildly popular Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. He played Jimmy Brooks for the first seven seasons of the series, before leaving to pursue his music career in 2007 when he was 19 years old.
Brown, who’s currently shooting Season 3 of her Netflix series, didn’t reveal the specifics of the advice that Drake gives her, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it has to do with navigating the public eye as a teen. Now, more epic bestie pics, please.
