There are some things that just make us feel. Whether we see a cute dog or someone doing a good deed, from time to time we’re reminded of just how incredible this planet can be. And while all the natural disasters that have been plaguing our world are incredibly worrisome, there are times even amidst the chaos that we get to see humanity’s true light. One potent example of this was when Mexican citizens in a neighborhood affected by the earthquake started singing the country’s national anthem, as someone who was trapped under debris got rescued.

In the video, we see hundreds of volunteers singing the song while a survivor is slowly and carefully saved.

Even if you don’t know the Himno Nacional de México, aka the Mexican National Anthem, you can’t help but be compelled by this touching tribute. Part of the translation of the anthem is:

This song feels especially appropriate during this heroic mission. The best part, however, has to be when the person is rescued and everyone starts clapping and cheering.

Then everyone breaks into a chorus of “Sí se pudo” which means “yes we can.”

We hope that many more people are able to be rescued and are greeted by the same chorus of cheers. In the meantime, we’re sending all of our love and support to those who’ve been affected by these disasters.
