A new study revealed that men and women use Tinder for two totally different reasons, and neither involves finding love
Tinder is still one of the most popular dating apps on the market. But according to a recent study, men and women typically use Tinder differently. And we can’t really say we’re surprised.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, also known as NTNU, published their findings in Personality and Individual Differences. After reviewing the Tinder habits of 641 Norwegian university students primarily in their 20s, they found that while men often use the app for casual sex, women often use it to help boost their self-esteem.
Meanwhile, many of the women surveyed noted that getting matches makes them feel desirable, which helps provides a confidence boost. The study also said that women spend more time on the app in general, but mostly because they spend more time actually looking at people’s profiles before deciding which way to swipe.
What are your thoughts on this one? And how do you use dating apps like Tinder?
