It appears as though Meghan Markle is adjusting to royal life quite nicely (not that we ever had any doubts), and it also appears as though Queen Elizabeth has taken the newly-minted Duchess of Sussex under her wing. Now this is a royal friendship we can get behind.

In case you missed it, Markle and Queen Elizabeth went on their first solo outing to Cheshire, England, in early June, and as Express reported, Markle was the first of any young royal to get invited on the queen’s private train. Prior to the trip, not even grandsons Prince William and Harry, or granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton, were extended the honor. Robert Lacey, a historical consultant for the Netflix series The Crown, coined the trip a “really positive sign of favor, encouragement and endorsement by the queen.”

And as a source told UsMagazine.com, Markle has “quickly demonstrated that she is intelligent, polite and keen to learn.” The source also added that her “enthusiasm towards living a life of service and humanitarianism excites the queen, and it’s just the type of vim and vigor she likes to see in someone.”

On the easy rapport between Markle and Queen Elizabeth, the source noted,

“She [the Queen] has a brilliant sense of humor. That’s one of the first things that brought her and Meghan close. It’s that warm side of her that has made Meghan feel so at ease.”

We officially love every single thing about this new royal friendship, and we welcome any and all further reports on their royal shenanigans. Also, forget Harry and Meghan — perhaps Meghan and The Queen is the Lifetime movie the world needs.
