While most people can’t relate to the royal wedding planning of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, there is one element that nearly everyone can empathize with. After the invitations to their May 19th wedding went out, a few of Markle’s estranged family members publicly said they weren’t invited to the wedding. It being her big day, Markle’s has the right to invite whomever she wants from her family — and not have it become international news. But apparently, the family members aren’t taking this rejection lying down. Because now, Markle’s nephew, along with his mother and sister, will reportedly be “royal wedding correspondents.” And let’s just say that if Markle didn’t want them at the wedding, she probably doesn’t want them providing public commentary on it.
According to Us Weekly, Markle’s nephew Tyler Dooley, his mother Tracy Dooley (who was previously married to Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr.), and Markle’s half-sister Samantha Grant will be flying from the U.S. to London to provide “coverage” of the royal wedding (even though they won’t be inside the event).
*cue MASSIVE groan*
Grant has been outspoken about Harry and Markle’s relationship, like when she criticized Prince Harry for saying that his family was like the family Markle never had. Plus, People reported that Grant is writing a memoir about Markle, with a title that speaks for itself: The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister.
As for Markle’s nephew and his mom, they appeared together on Good Morning Britain on March 26th to awkwardly discuss how they weren’t invited to the royal wedding.
During their Good Morning Britain interview, Tyler said, “We’ve been here from the very beginning. I mean, her whole life, just always rooting her on and supporting her.” Yet he also said that he last spoke to Markle about three years ago. And his mom, Tracy, said it has been about 20 years since she last saw the soon-to-be royal. Knowing this, it’s really not all that surprising that they were left off the royal wedding guest list.
So if this news proves to be true, it’s outrageously insensitive that Markle’s nephew and other family members would bring their uncomfortable campaign to the next level by reporting on her wedding.
While we understand that tabloids would love to feature Markle’s family in hopes of some drama, it just goes to show exactly why they weren’t invited to the wedding in the first place. So choose your TV coverage wisely on the day of the royal wedding. And here’s hoping that Markle is surrounded by so much love and joy by the people she did invite to her wedding that she doesn’t even worry herself about those using this event for their own benefit.
