Today in less-than-pleasant science, it seems like we may really not be able to live forever. Like, we never thought we could, but there was always a little bit of hope that if our medicine got good enough, we’d never need to perish. But, alas, a new study is showing that we may actually just have a built-in maximum amount of years we can live. UGH, WE’RE SO SAD. The new study published in the journal Nature suggests that there may be a “fixed” max on how long we can live.

And that max? It’s approximately 115 years.

Is it just us, or does that not feel like NEARLY long enough? We know our great-grandparents lived to be not nearly as old, so we’re not trying to be greedy, but come on! We have other tech even our parents could never have imagined in their wildest dreams. But we still have to die?!

Despite this ~magical~ technology, study author Jan Vijg told the New York Times,

Brandon Milholland, study co-author, continued,

But it’s okay, guys! As much as it sucks to feel like we have some sort of ceiling (ANOTHER, ceiling, mind you) to how long we can live, 115 years is still a really freakin’ long time. Maybe we should just enjoy what we do have, and make sure to live every day to the fullest, no matter how cheesy it sounds!
