As fans prepare to say goodbye to Game of Thrones this year, star Maisie Williams opened up about playing Arya Stark throughout her teenage years. And in a new Rolling Stone co-interview with costar and IRL best friend Sophie Turner, the actress revealed they used to essentially bind her breasts in order to hide her developing body.

Williams, 21, began on the series when she was just 12 years old, meaning her body went through a lot of natural changes over the course of eight seasons.

She continued, “And it got worse, ’cause [they] kept growing, and they put this little fat belly on me to make it even out. I was, like, 15. ‘I just wanna be a girl and have a boyfriend!’ That was when it sucked.” She noted that it felt like a victory when her character was finally allowed to wear a real bra. “The first time they gave me a bra in my trailer, I was like, ‘Yes! I’m a woman!’”

Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, said she felt for Williams, adding that it was “really difficult” for her friend—especially because Williams had to watch Turner wear elegant, feminine dresses.

Luckily, Williams can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that—while utterly badass—her Arya Stark days are behind her.
