Lizzo led a group meditation to help ease everyone's coronavirus anxiety—watch it now
These are some strange and frightening times we’re living through right now, and Lizzo wants to remind us that we can power through them. The “Truth Hurts” singer uploaded a 30-minute video to her Instagram on March 13th, guiding followers and fans through a fear-reducing meditation. In the video, Lizzo shares honest thoughts on the coronavirus pandemic, her hopes for getting through it, and of course, her truth.
Lizzo was forced to cancel her Houston Rodeo headlining performance on the 13th because of the pandemic. But that show cancellation didn’t stop her from entertaining and soothing souls. With her flute, incense, and a bowl of crystals, Lizzo took her show on the virtual road.
“I remember in Sunday school when the kids would come into the church, we had a little song that we would sing when we marched in,” she states in the video. “So, it’s always nice to feel like you have a fight song.”
The singer titled the meditation video “Because I Love You,” after one of her most popular songs.
Lizzo wrote in the caption, “A meditation and mantra to promote healing during this global crisis. Use at your own pace. Love you!”
“It’s a scary time for a lot of people and even I was experiencing some fear,” she continues through the incense smoke. “And more so than fear, I was experiencing helplessness.”
She states that she’s going to have a meeting with her team to figure out how she can use her platform and status to turn that fear of helplessness into action by aiding those affected, such as the kids who will not receive their free lunches through school.
Lizzo then gives us a mantra to follow: “Fear does not exist in my body. Fear does not exist in my home. Love exists in my body. Love exists in my home.”
Before signing off, Lizzo reminds followers of health precautions we can all take to stop the spread of the virus: washing hands, practicing good hygiene, applying hand sanitizer, as she does during the video, social distancing, and more.
She then says, “Be healthy, be vigilant, but don’t be afraid. We’re in this together. We’ll get through this together. Because we always do. We’re not going to let fear become the next pandemic. Namaste.”
Social distancing has never felt so good. We’ll be playing this video on repeat until this mess gets cleaned up.
