During her time playing Phoebe Buffay on the wildly successful sitcom Friends, Lisa Kudrow was in a constant battle with her body image. Opening up to Marc Maron of the WTF With Marc Maron podcast on Monday, May 20th, Kudrow said that she often compared her body to the bodies of her co-stars Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston.

“Unfortunately for a woman, if you’re underweight, you look good. And that’s all I ever got,” Kudrow told Maron, ET reports. “When I was too thin, I was sick all the time,” she added, admitting that her constant illnesses didn’t stop her from keeping her weight down.

Kudrow told Maron that she still deals with body image issues, but she’s learned to be kinder to herself.

“I have a whole battle all the time,” Kudrow said. She said she sometimes feels as though she shouldn’t “be seen by anybody” if she has a little extra roll on her stomach. “I end up with, ‘So what? So, all right. You’re older. That’s a good thing. Why is that a bad thing?'”

Unfortunately, the body image battle is something most people deal with. The next time we’re feeling down, perhaps we can take a page from Kudrow’s book and say, “So what? We’re still us—that’s a good thing.”
