Lindsay Lohan’s new reality show, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club: Paradise Boss, premiered last night, January 8th, on MTV, and gave viewers up-close insight into where the actress-turned-entrepreneur is in life—both physically and emotionally. And during the episode, Lohan got extremely real about why she wanted to open a beach club in Mykonos specifically. While speaking to her business partner Panos, she said:

In a separate interview, Panos told the cameras that Lohan had once been assaulted while on the beach there by her then-partner, Egor Tarabasov. Tarabasov reportedly hit Lohan and attempted to restrain her in an effort to get his phone out of her hands. The incident was captured by photographers and pictures were published in the Daily Mail.

“She wanted to remember this beach as a very fun place, not what happened to her,” Panos explained. Lohan later added, “I made it something that is meaningful to me.”

In 2016, Lohan opened up about her problematic relationship with Tarabasov, stating that she learned one “can’t stay in a relationship just for love.”

We’re thanking Lohan for her candor on what is likely a painful topic to broach. Domestic abuse is a daily occurrence for women all over the world, and we’re positive her words—and the actions she took—will help others.
