Lili Reinhart opened up about her social anxiety: "I'd rather stay home and read a book"
Lili Reinhart is one of our dream bffs for several reasons: She has no shame in sharing her cystic acne struggles, she champions the destigmatization of mental health…oh, and she’d rather stay in and read a book than go to a party. SAME AF.
The entire Riverdale crew sat down with Seventeen, and interviewer Rachel Mosely asked Reinhart if she was at all like her on-screen persona, Betty, who literally hunts down murderers in her spare time. Reinhart said she’s nothing like Betty and added that because of her longstanding struggle with social anxiety, she has created a more introverted life for herself.
One of the things we love so much about Reinhart is how she’s so open and shame-free in sharing her experiences with anxiety. She previously confessed to W Magazine that when she was 18 and trying to make it as an actor in L.A., she had such bad panic attacks she had to move back home.
On the topic of mental health, she told Teen Vogue, “People need to treat mental health like physical health. If you have a broken bone, you go to the doctor. If you have depression, people just say, ‘Everyone’s depressed, right?’ A lot of people don’t do anything about it and that to me is sad. I know sometimes it’s hard to reach out and I want to just say that it’s so normal.”
Amen to all of this.
