Where to stream "Lady Bird," because honestly you need to
Lady Bird started out as an indie darling, only showing in select theaters across the country — but now it’s the kind of movie that will earn you a hard stare and a chorus of “really?” at brunch if you haven’t yet seen it. Sooo, what are you waiting for? Go stream Lady Bird NOW. At least try to watch it before the 2018 Oscars.
Its stellar reputation and five Academy Award nominations are well-deserved. The delightful combination of teen angst, mother-daughter conflict, and dream team of Saoirse Ronan and writer and director Greta Gerwig make the film poised to walk away with more than a few awards on Sunday.
So how can you stream Lady Bird?
To start, it’s still showing in some theaters, so check your local listings. The best way to watch a cherished Oscar nominee is always nestled between a pint of ice cream and a tub of buttered popcorn.
If you don’t want to make the trip to the cinema, Lady Bird is available to watch on both Amazon and iTunes — for a price. You can buy it on Amazon for $14.99 to watch and re-watch to your heart’s content. Or you can rent it on iTunes for $5.99 (though you’ll probably end up buying it for $14.99 — because who can watch an unnervingly relatable portrayal of teenagehood and growing apart from your parents just once?).
Lady Bird is up for Best Picture on Sunday. Greta Gerwig is nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf are nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. No, the Academy isn’t always right, but when it comes to this movie, they’ve got it nailed.
