Disney's making a live-action "Lady and the Tramp" — because they know we've been trying to eat spaghetti and kiss forever
Put down that bowl of spaghetti and pick up your favorite pup, because Disney is making a live-action Lady and the Tramp — and it’s coming out sooner than you think. This will be the first new version of the film since the original animated classic debuted in 1955, and we’re swooning all over. The new Lady and the Tramp will be part live-action and part CGI, because if you’re like us, you know it’s basically impossible to actually get two dogs to eat spaghetti and kiss. (Even if they really, really like each other.)
The live-action Lady and the Tramp will debut sometime in 2019, as an exclusive for Disney’s new streaming service.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Bean is set to direct. He might not be a household name, but his work certainly is: Bean recently directed The Lego Ninjago Movie. Plus, this is Disney we’re talking about. They wouldn’t hand a project like Lady and the Tramp over to just anyone. Better still, Bean has years of experience as an animator. And we’re thinking this means extra-cute dogs, snooty cats, and scrumptious plates of spaghetti.
The only possible downside is that the Lady and the Tramp remake won’t land in theaters.
Again, it’s a legit exclusive for Disney’s new streaming service, and since that’s reason alone to subscribe, they probably won’t air it anywhere else, including cable TV or movie theaters. But when you think about it, it’s kind of a surprise that it took Disney this long to get its own version of Netflix, right?
Imagine: A channel with Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars content you can’t get *anywhere* else. Hush up and take our money already! ALSO, since the Lady and the Tramp live-action film is slated for a 2019 release, we could be seeing this Disney streaming service sooner rather than later, and we’ll cheers to that.
Now, excuse us, this spaghetti isn’t going to romantically nibble itself.
