Kim Kardashian West Has Cherry Red Hair—and No, It’s Not a Wig
It feels very Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid,' but fashion.
Members of the Kardashian-Jenner family change up their hairstyles and hair colors often, and it’s usually thanks to commitment-free wigs. But that’s not the case this time around. Kim Kardashian West has red hair, and it’s not a wig, as the man behind her new 'do is making very clear.
Hairstylist Chris Appleton—who also works with Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry, among other celebrities—posted about Kardashian West's cherry red look on Instagram with the caption, “Red head 🍒 it’s NOT a wig before you start with that shit.”
The two videos Appleton posted are re-shares from Kardashian’s Instagram Story. In one, which features a freckle filter, the reality star shows off her hair while making a kissy face.
In one video, Kardashian West says, “You guys, I dyed my hair red. Do you love it?”
And people do seem to like the look, including Paris Hilton who commented, “Loves it 😍🔥”
While Kardashian West normally sticks to a brunette or blonde look, this is not the first time she’s had red hair. In February 2019, she was seen with red hair, but it seemed to be pretty short-lived and possibly for a photoshoot, as noted by People. At that time, there was no word on whether or not it was a wig, but clearly, Kardashian West’s not opposed to spending a lot of time in a salon chair.
Appleton often posts photos of his clients, and he recently posted Kardashian West with a long brunette look and with long blond hair. In April, he also posted an Instagram showing a bunch of Kardashian’s different hair colors from over the years, including the red one. Maybe that look at the past gave them the inspiration to try it out again.
For now, it seems like Kardashian West’s a fan of her new hair. But don’t be surprised if you see her pop up on Instagram in a week with a totally different color that begs fans to wonder, yet again, whether it’s a wig.
