On February 25th, fans of Jay and Silent Bob learned that filmmaker Kevin Smith had a massive heart attack — one that would have been fatal had he not received rapid medical attention. And the star recently posted an update about how he’s doing via Facebook Live.
Smith filmed the update from Glendale Adventist Medical Center, where he’s still in the process of recovering from Sunday’s scare. He revealed that he felt a little nauseated the night of his heart attack but figured it was due to something he ate. He had no idea it was actually due to the fact that his left anterior descending artery was 100% blocked (he explained a block in the LAD is also known as the “widow maker.”)
Luckily, it seems like Smith can still find the funny — even in a seemingly dire situation.
And on a serious and genuinely candid note, Smith said that the experience forced him to think about all the wonderful moments in his life.
Smith revealed that his father passed away from a heart attack, and his mother also has heart problems — yet he still didn’t connect his symptoms with his heart at the time (a solid reminder that heart attack symptoms aren’t always obvious or like what we see on movies and television).
We’re so glad that Smith seems to be doing okay, and we’re wishing him nothing but the best.
