The 2018 Grammy Awards are airing on Sunday, January 28th, and many are preparing by brushing up on their knowledge of the night’s biggest nominees. Naturally, some nominees stand out a little bit more than others, and this year, one of those stars is Kesha. After an incredibly tough few years, Kesha finally released new music in 2017, and she was rewarded for it with some Grammy nods. The internet’s thrilled reaction has many wondering: how many Grammys does Kesha have?

The answer is a little surprising — and pretty disappointing for fans. Kesha has actually never won a Grammy before. In fact, she’s never even been nominated, something that is hard to believe when you think about how big of a star she’s always been. The two nominations she earned this year are her first, which is part of the reason fans were so excited for her.

This year, the singer was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for her single “Praying” and Best Traditional Pop Album for her album, Rainbow. And while she’s up against some heavy hitters — like Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga — she still has a shot. After all, Rainbow, her first album since 2012, definitely deserves the recognition. Before it came out, Kesha spent five years fighting for the right to cut ties with producer Dr. Luke, her sexual and emotional abuser, and create music on her own.

Rainbow is the result of that battle, and the results were fantastic. The album is raw, honest, and real; what many consider to be her best work. Throughout the album, Kesha sings about trauma in an incredibly important way, and it was a big statement that many felt they could relate to.

The good news? Even if Kesha doesn’t win, she’s definitely going to put on a good show.

The singer will be performing “Praying” at the Grammys, and we absolutely can’t wait to see what she comes up with. It’s sure to be a powerful performance everyone will be talking about.

Even though she’s never been nominated for a Grammy until now, Kesha is no stranger to awards. She’s been nominated for many and has won several of them, including the Best New Act award at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and the Trailblazer Award at the 2016 Billboard Women In Music event.

We’re rooting for Kesha to bring home her first Grammy this year!
