John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are officially national treasures (even though, yes, we know — Ms. Blunt is technically English). The couple has been married for eight years and has two daughters together — and every interview either one of them gives makes us fall just a little bit more in love with both of them.

Krasinski’s admiration and love for his real-life wife is seriously on Jim and Pam levels. (When he first heard Emily sing, he reportedly burst into tears. He’s called her his “hero in every single way.” We could go on).

Now, the former on-screen paper salesman is opening up about what “saved” his relationship with Blunt in the very beginning stages.

When they first began dating, Emily had already been in The Devil Wears Prada, and John had trouble hiding that he was a huge fan. He even had a magazine with her face on the cover at his house the first time she came over (aww).

He continued, “We got to have a very removed existence, because we just looked at it as though we were two people who had fallen in love, rather than two Hollywood celebrities who’d met each other.”

Krasinski also revealed that they’ve never thought of themselves as a Hollywood statistic, but rather as a real couple, just like anyone else.

We’re officially melting.
