Jessica Biel revealed her son Silas was born via a traumatic emergency C-section
While baby Silas Timberlake was born almost three years ago, we’re still learning new details about his arrival into the world. In a new nannying book by esteemed L.A. nanny Connie Simpson, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel revealed that Biel underwent an emergency C-section on the day of their son’s birth.
In an excerpt from the book, called The Nanny Connie Way: Secrets to Mastering the First Four Months of Parenthood, Biel wrote,
“When all our plans fell apart and the serene, natural childbirth we had envisioned ended with a transfer to the hospital and an emergency C-section, we arrived home exhausted, disillusioned, and totally in shock. I was obsessed with everything organic, toxin-free, natural, and homeopathic for our kid, who came into this world in an operating room through an incision. I was a dictator, making myself and my husband insane!” Biel added.
Biel noted that a C-section was absolutely not in their (meticulous) birthing plan.
As privileged as Biel and Timberlake surely are, Biel’s story illustrates an important point: No matter how much you prepare for the birth of your child, at the end of the day, things might not go to plan. And that’s 100% normal.
We’re glad that Biel and Timberlake weren’t afraid to open up about the stressful experience. We’re sure it will help so many other new parents feel less alone if things don’t go quite (or any anywhere near) plan.
