We just heard some amazing news: Jen Wong has been appointed to Chief Operating Officer of Time Inc.

Wong has been part of the Time Inc. family since December, when she joined as President of Digital. Now, she’s taking the next step!

“Jen has been here only 10 months and has made incredible contributions to the company,” newly-appointed CEO Rich Battista told WWD. He also cited Wong’s “speed and decisiveness,” and credits her with “[bringing] in a culture of the digital world.”

When Wong looks at Time Inc., she sees more than just a slew of magazine titles. She sees a true multimedia company with dozens and dozens of outlets that reach millions of people—a company that requires a sound digital strategy.

As Chief Operating Officer Wong plans to be heavily involved in the company’s consumer marketing efforts, and even has plans to partner with subscription businesses. For her, it’s all about building better and closer relationships with consumers.

“I’m excited to work closely with Rich and the executive team on growing Time Inc.,” Wong said in a statement to Time Inc. employees. “Our brands are the most trusted and beloved, and they each have enormous potential to deepen and extend their relationship with consumers.”

Earlier this week Battista was quoted saying that his goal is to “turn Time Inc. into a compelling growth story,” The Wall Street Journal reports. Wong will no doubt be integral in helping him achieve this vision.

Fun fact: Jen has degrees from Harvard, Stanford and Yale! 😮😮😮

But what’s even more impressive about Jen’s meteoric rise, is this position makes her the first female Asian American in the Time Inc. C-Suite. The C-Suite is shorthand for a corporation’s most important senior executives whose titles tend to start with the letter C, for chief, as in chief executive officer, chief operating officer and chief information officer.

Congratulations, Jen! We’re always happy to see hardworking women rise to the top. You’re an inspiration to us all, and we wish you luck in your new position. HelloGiggles is proud to be part of your next chapter.
