Hogwarts held the most heartbreaking memorial for the Orlando shooting
An outpouring of love and support continues to flood into Orlando, Florida. 49 people were killed at the Pulse nightclub over the weekend, casting a dark shadow over the whole community. But as Albus Dumbledore once wisely said, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
So wands up, friends. It’s time for a little lumos.
In what is both a powerful, and heartbreaking, image, hundreds of wizards and muggles gathered outside of Hogwarts at Universal Orlando Resort, in Florida Monday night to raise their wands high up in the air.
If this seems familiar, it’s because that’s what the students at Hogwarts did after Dumbledore died, and I’m not crying, you’re not crying. Actually, WE’RE ALL CRYING.
One of the victims of the Pulse shooting, Luis Vielma, worked at the attraction inside Hogwarts, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. It appears as if the crew members at Universal placed candles throughout the entire queue for the ride.
Memorials for Luis have also been popping up all over Hogsmead and Diagon Alley.
So, so beautiful, and it’s clear that Luis was clearly loved by all he worked with. As Dumbledore once perfectly put it, “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.”
