Regardless of how you feel about Hillary Clinton, it’s pretty much impossible to argue that sexism has had no role in her political career. In case you need proof, this video captures 40 years worthof sexist questions answered by the current Democratic Presidential Candidate. We see everything from interviewees asking Clinton what she thinks of tablecloths (yes, seriously, tablecloths) to whether or not the world is ready for such a strong woman.

It’s pretty horrifying. When you consider how far the U.S. lags behind other countries we like to think we’re similar to, it’s disturbing to consider how women who dare to voice their opinions on the political stage are treated. In many ways, we have no one to blame but our culture and the sexism deeply embedded in so many parts of it.

A few of the most sexist questions.

“You’re really not all that interested in state dinners and teas and garden parties?”

Ah, yes, because we ~ladies~ love nothing like we love garden parties!

“Men won’t vote for Hillary Clinton because she reminds them of their nagging wives.”

This is so straightforward in its sexism it’s hard to read without catching on literal fire.

“Foreign leaders tried to determine what her hairstyles meant.”

You’ve got to be kidding.

“Does it hurt you when people say you’re too lawyer-ly?”

What does that even mean?
