Fans noticed this weird connection between Hilary Duff and the 2018 Emmy winners
The 2018 Emmys have been chock-full o’ surprises: From Jeff Daniels thanking his horse to a freaking wedding proposal, to yellow being a trend on the gold carpet. But there’s one random gem to come out of the Emmy Awards that we really weren’t expecting, and it involves none other than Hilary Duff. Twitter astutely pointed out that Hilary Duff is connected to multiple Emmy winners. And by multiple we mean two, but still.
Let us explain. During the awards show, Alex Borstein won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Not only did she reveal that she didn’t wear a bra (we love that IDGAF attitude), but she made a case for women to sit on the damn toilet. “Ladies, when you use a public restroom, sit down. If you sit, we can all sit. Stop peeing on the seat,” she said during her speech. Preach, girl. Preach.
Later that evening, Regina King took home the award for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Television Movie for her role in Seven Seconds. She was surprised by her win, saying: “I wasn’t really expecting this but I am so grateful, TV Academy.” She thanked Netflix “for creating an opportunity to tell a story, hold a mirror up to what’s going on today.”
So what does this have to do with Duff? Well, in case your 14-year-old self doesn’t remember, both Borstein and King worked with the Disney star. Borstein starred in The Lizzie McGuire movie, where she played the pesky high school principal, Mrs. Ungermeyer. King, on the other hand, played Rhonda, the badass waitress in the iconic A Cinderella Story.
Here are some glorious tweets that put two-and-two together.
Coincidence? We think not.
