As massive Harry Potter fans, we’ve always dreamed of enjoying the many liberties of a Hogwarts student. We’ve all wanted to hop aboard the Hogwarts Express, take transfiguration classes under Professor McGonagall, and maybe even cross the Black Lake on boats. While we don’t see the possibility of going on a magical train ride any time soon, we now get the chance to float on a magical ship, thanks to the Harry Potter river cruise setting sail this summer.
Barge Lady Cruises is now offering a week-long trip aboard the eight-passenger luxury boat, Magna Carta, which will voyage up the River Thames and take you to several Harry Potter travel destinations. The Harry Potter cruise begins and ends in London, and passengers will get to visit landmarks that appeared in the movies — so basically, #thedream.
The itinerary includes stops to the following places:
- Picket Post Close, the IRL location of the famous 4 Privet Drive aka the Dursley family home where Harry lived in a cupboard under the stairs.
- The Great Hall at Oxford’s Christ Church College, which the Hogwarts version of The Great Hall was modeled after.
- Virginia Water, the place where Harry first met Buckbeak in The Prisoner of Azkaban.
- Warner Bros Studio Tour London, where you can see the props used in the movies, discover how the films came to fruition, drink copious amounts of Butterbeer, and more.
And the cost? Let’s just say it’ll set you back more than a handful of Galleons.
Renting the barge costs roughly $34,000, which is around $4,190 per person. Pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say, in the words of Ron Weasley, bloody hell!
So save those Galleons, take a trip to Gringotts, ’round up your Muggle pals, and go on what’s sure to be the most magical vacation of your life.
