Your TV is about to get a huge dose of feminist realness thanks to Gloria Steinem‘s new weekly series Woman, which launches on the channel Viceland on May 10th.

The iconic author/activist/speaker will both produce and host the series. According to the Associated Press and Deadline Hollywood, Gloria will lead a team of all-female journalists as they report on important feminist issues such as sexual violence in the Congo, sexual assault in the American military, femicides (murders of women) in El Salvador, extremism in Pakistan, and the effect of incarcerated mothers on their young children.

Gloria Steinem is a longtime journalist who rose in status as a feminist icon back in 1972 when she co-founded Ms. magazine and stayed on board as an editor for 15 years. She has published numerous books about herself and other women’s lives, including My Life on the Road, Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-EsteemOutrageous Acts and Everyday RebellionsMoving Beyond WordsMarilyn: Norma Jean, and As If Women MatterShe’s also no stranger to the screen, having appeared in countless documentaries, including Gloria: In Her Own Words for HBO.
