Someone mowed a giant penis into a field so President Trump would see it when he flew into the U.K.
When President Donald Trump visited the U.K. in July 2018, his presence wasn’t exactly celebrated. Instead, British citizens greeted him with protests, a rather NSFW message carved into a crop circle, and an attempt to make Green Day’s “American Idiot” top the music charts. The cherry on top of it all was the giant Trump Baby balloon, which floated above London while the president was there. With all this in mind, it’s not surprising that Trump’s 2019 U.K. visit is already off to an equally irreverent start—and one that involves a giant penis.
According to CNN, Trump arrived in London today, June 3rd, officially kicking off his state visit. The day involved lunch with Queen Elizabeth II, tea with Prince Charles, and a large state banquet with the royal family (sans Meghan Markle, who’s on maternity leave). But outside of the palace, the pranks were on. HuffPost U.K. reports that student and environmentalist Ollie Nancarrow mowed a penis into a field directly in Trump’s flightpath, which seems like quite the start to this state visit. Nancarrow’s message isn’t just a crude prank, however. His handiwork also includes the fact “climate change is real.” He shared pictures of his efforts on Twitter on June 2nd.
Stiff message indeed.
So far, Nancarrow’s message has been retweeted more than 3,000 times. The student later tweeted a statement clarifying that there was more to his message than simply antagonizing Trump.
Trump has frequently claimed that climate change is either a hoax or not that big of a deal.
As BBC News notes, in November 2018, his response to a report on the economic damage that climate change could cause the U.S. was simply, “I don’t believe it.” And in January, the president demonstrated yet again that he doesn’t understand climate science when he asked global warming to “come back fast” in a tweet.
We can only hope that Trump saw Nancarrow’s handiwork—and that the message had time to sink in.
