It’s now one of the most iconic teen movies of all time, but it seems that not everyone wanted to be a member of The Plastics back in 2004. Evan Rachel Wood revealed she actually turned down a role in Mean Girls, and even she admits that choice was not very fetch.

These days, Mean Girls is seeing a revival thanks to its crazy popular Broadway adaptation, but the endlessly quotable teen comedy apparently wasn’t in the cards for Wood…though she had a totally reasonable explanation as to why she decided not to pursue the project. Wood, whose breakout role was in the equally iconic teen drama Thirteen, told Jimmy Fallon on April 20th that she was already slated to star in a high school comedy, so she passed.

Wood didn’t reveal the role she would have played, but she did gush over Tina Fey (who was appearing on Fallon’s show the same night to promote the musical adaptation. “Tina, if you’re here, I’m so sorry we got off on the wrong foot,” Wood said. “As long as the next movie you’re doing is not about a robot uprising, I will happily, happily [do it],” she joked, referring to her role on Westwood.

An Evan Rachel Wood/Tina Fey joint-project? Totally grool.
