Sometimes, for better or worse, engagements can become synonymous with THE RING. So it was admittedly surprising to hear that Emily Ratajkowski’s fiancé (and now husband) Sebastian Bear-McClard proposed without one. And, as the model and actress told Jimmy Fallon during an April 10th interview on The Tonight Show, she was initially pretty thrown by the whole lack of ring thing as well. That is until Bear-McClard won her over with a super romantic gesture.
“He proposed to me at Minetta Tavern and he didn’t have a ring, so I was like mmm, nah,” Ratajkowski recalled. “And then he took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic.”
The pair just recently tied the knot at the end of February in a New York City courthouse wedding. Ratajkowski told Fallon that the entire event was fairly untraditional. She opted to wear a mustard yellow suit and a black hat. And even the couple’s wedding bands had their own unique flair.
With the help of a jeweler in Midtown, the couple ended up crafting their bands just hours before they married.
The handmade gold bands were supposed to be temporary, but Ratajkowski said she’s grown attached and loves the meaning behind them.
Congratulations to the newlyweds! We’re so happy for these two “interesting little humans.”
