Drew Barrymore lied to her kids about why she came home from shooting "Santa Clarita Diet" covered in fake blood
It’s Friday, which means the Netflix gods have blessed us with yet another gift. Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet dropped on Netflix today, March 23rd. So you can spend the weekend with Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, their fast-talking banter, and fake blood. Lots and lots of fake blood. Even though it isn’t real, it’s still hard for Barrymore to explain it to her kids.
When asked about the fake blood at a recent Netflix press event, Barrymore said she showers it off at the end of the day after shooting. But sometimes, she misses a few spots — which raises questions at home with her daughters, Olive, 5, and Frankie, 3. And rather than explain the stains on her skin, she just lies. LOL.
“I had to lie to my children several times,” Barrymore said. “We have this little soundstage in Santa Clarita that’s like, so out of another era and not ‘Hollywood cool,’ but we love it. And it’s just a really nice, safe place to work every day. And they have a really old shower there that I would use. But on some nights I would miss parts of the blood, and I would come home, and every single time my kids would be like, ‘Mom, what’s that?’ And I was like, ‘Paint. We were painting at work today.’ So I just lied and said it was paint.”
Oh, Drew. We get it, though. Explaining to her kids that she was covered in fake blood would probably open Pandora’s box. There would for sure be follow-up questions.
Maybe one day, Olive and Frankie will see the show and all will make sense. Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet is now streaming on Netflix!
