Drew Barrymore — relatable goddess — clapped back so hard when a stranger asked if she was pregnant (hint: she's not)
We sometimes think celebrities have pristine lives with fancy personal trainers and meal plans, but they’re also human people, just like us, who hate diets and have hang-ups about their bodies. Drew Barrymore went on The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet when the topic of well, diets, came up.
“I hate it,” Barrymore told Corden about her feelings on diets in general, “I would much rather eat fettuccine alfredo all day long.” Same, though.
Like many of us, Drew’s struggled with hating diets while also being unhappy with her body, so she said she used her character on the show as motivation to change her lifestyle.
"When I first started the show I was 145 pounds and my life was falling apart," she recalled. "I think sometimes women in their forties who've experienced lots of life question like, I have kids, am I the person I was, who am I going to be, I'll never be the same. And you're kind of floating in this weird purgatory vortex of who you're supposed to become after having children...So I used the show as a wake-up call to myself, I said [to the show's creator], 'Can I lose twenty pounds over the course of the show?'"
She lost weight and exercised nearly every day during the first season, and then Season 2 rolled around and as Barrymore explained: “Before you know it, you’re just pigging out with a feed bag strapped to your face.”
Never has there been a better way to describe eating than “feed bag strapped to your face.”
“I’m a foodie, I love food, I travel the world for food, and I got heavy between the show,” Barrymore added.
Unfortunately, some people don’t understand the joy of eating, like maybe the random woman who stopped Barrymore outside a restaurant with some unnecessary comments.
"I'm walking out of a restaurant with a bunch of my mom friends and their kids and this woman stops me and goes, 'God, you have so many kids,'" Barrymore explained. "I said, 'Not all of them are mine,' and she goes, 'Well you're expecting, obviously.'"
So then Barrymore goes, “I literally look at her and go, ‘No, I’m just fat right now.‘”
Moral of the story: Drew Barrymore hates dieting and will clap the hell back if you ask her if she’s pregnant. As Cardi B says, let 👏🏽 me 👏🏽 fat 👏🏽 in 👏🏽 peace.
