Demi Lovato just got some fresh ink to celebrate her fresh start. Just a few days after seemingly confirming she’d relapsed after six years of sobriety in her new single “Sober,” the 25-year-old revealed that she and her entire team got tiny new matching tattoos.

The “Tell Me You Love Me” singer has always been honest with her fans about her struggles with addiction, mental illness, and eating disorders. Now, she’s letting them know that she finally feels free. Taking to her Instagram Story on Monday night, Lovato debuted hew newest ink on her right pinky finger that reads “Free” in cursive. The snap was time-stamped June 22nd – the day after she released her song in which she sings about sharing her truth.

"Mama, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore / And Daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor," she sings. "To the ones who never left me / We've been down this road before / I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore."

Several members of her team, including her manager, assistant, makeup artist, hairstylist, and even her security all supported Lovato by getting the same tattoo. Lovato also shared a group shot alongside the caption, “The team that tats together stays together.”

Her manager Lauren Einbinder posted a selfie on her IG account, too, writing, “That moment when you realize you’re living your dream with the people you love.”

Hairstylist César Ramirêz shared another photo, writing, “Everyone deserves to speak their truth! Love is accepting someone for who they are and for who they are not!”

It seems that Lovato’s latest tattoo is a powerful symbol of where she is in her journey right now, and the fact that she has chosen to be so open about her experience should be celebrated. Her new song is an important reminder that addiction is a journey, not a destination, which is why we’re so glad Lovato has incredibly supportive friends by her side.
