Demi Lovato's little sister posted the most bittersweet birthday tribute: "This could have been one of the worst day of my life"
In the weeks following her reported overdose and admission into a rehab facility, Demi Lovato has remained surrounded by family and loved ones. Yesterday, August 20th, marked the singer’s 26th birthday, and while Lovato’s fans around the globe wished her the best as she recovers and heals, the sweetest birthday tribute of all came from her little sister, Madison De La Garza.
On Instagram, Madison, 16, posted a throwback photo of herself as a baby with her big sis, acknowledging how different the day could have been if Demi’s overdose had been fatal. She wrote, “Today could have been one of the worst days of my life, but instead I get to spend it thanking God, the incredible doctors, Demi’s team, and everyone across the world who offered their support—without all of these people, I wouldn’t have my big sister anymore.”
“They seem so small, but those little things make up my sister—not a singer, not a celebrity, and definitely not what she’s been described as in the media—she’s a daughter, a friend, and my big sister… and I am so, so thankful that I can tell her happy birthday,” Madison wrote.
Demi’s mom, Dianna De La Garza, posted Madison’s heartfelt tribute, writing in her caption, “Thank you for all your love and prayers…I am truly blessed.”
Demi’s older sister, Dallas Lovato, also posted a throwback photo in honor of Demi’s birthday, captioning the sweet shot, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE STRONGEST GIRL I KNOW! I love you sissy and I’m proud of you beyond belief.”
As always, we’re sending our warmest thoughts to Demi, and we hope she was surrounded by nothing but love on her birthday.
