David Harbour finally officiated that fan's wedding he tweeted about nine months ago
David Harbour, aka Chief Hopper on Stranger Things, promised to officiate a fan’s wedding nine months ago on Twitter, and the internet was collectively like, “Yas!” But as with most things, we forgot about it and moved on—until this weekend, when Harbour revealed that he trekked down to Springfield, Illinois to officiate the luckiest fan’s wedding.
He shared a photo from the wedding ceremony where he officiated as Chief Hopper.
The bride herself was pleased with his officiant skills. She tweeted, “[Harbour] was so awesome yesterday. We had such a great time!!! Thank you so, so much!!”
It was the bride, named Ericka, who got this ball rolling in January 2018. What originally seemed like a jokey tweet—”What would it take to get @DavidKHarbour to be the Officiant at my wedding in September?!”—turned into a real offer when Harbour tweeted back, “125k retweets. Provided date works with s3 shooting schedule, I will get ordained and perform ceremony. I get to read an esteemed love letter of my choosing, and after the cake is officially cut, I get the very first piece.”
She got the 125k retweets, they made a deal, and Harbour held true to that deal.
As if we didn’t already love this man enough.
