Courteney Cox’s daughter Coco Arquette just attended her first school formal over the weekend. And being the proud mother she is, Cox had to share a photo of her daughter’s big moment. But Cox didn’t just share a picture of Coco. She also posted a photo of herself headed to her first high school formal back in the day. And, well, the Friends star said it best: Times have certainly changed.

In the side-by-side photos, Coco is dressed in a simple, red satin, halter dress, and teenage Cox is in a button-front smock dress.

As a bonus, judging by her caption, Cox’s dress seems to have been homemade from a Simplicity sewing pattern. Iconic.

Allison Janney wrote, “That is one for the books baby.” Kate Hudson shared a string of heart emojis. Actress and friend Christa Miller commented what we were all thinking, “My love, is that a turtleneck???” Unfortunately, it appears so.

Though the fashion ~lewks~ may be at opposite ends of the spectrum, it’s so cute that the mom-and-daughter duo can celebrate some “firsts” together. Coco posted her own series of photos with her friends as they got ready for the big night. Our question is: Did the little doggo go, too? And if so, where is his bowtie?

We’re usually all about “like mother, like daughter” moments. But in this case, we’re glad Coco went her own way with her formal attire. No offense to Cox’s sewing skills, of course.
