Christina Aguilera was one of the first judges to join The Voice in 2011 and quietly departed the show in 2016 as The Voice welcomed new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. Now, several years after her exit, Aguilera is spilling all of the hot, hot tea about her six seasons on the show…and it’s not great news for The Voice.

In a new interview with Billboard to promote her surprise new single “Accelerate” (a banger, btw) off her forthcoming album Liberation (set to drop June 15th, 2018), she got real about her time on the singing competition show, which she called an “energy sucker.”

She also went on to explain how creatively stifling it was to be told how to dress and what to say.

We should also point out that for many years Aguilera was the only female judge on the show, surrounded by Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and host Carson Daly. When her former rumored frenemy Pink appeared on the show, Aguilera was ecstatic: “I was so excited — even she was like, ‘Why is she so excited to see me?’” Aguilera recalled. “I was like, ‘Another female! There’s another vagina in the room! I’m so excited!’”

It’s clear that Aguilera won’t return to the series, and that’s fine by us. Her new single is fire and Liberation drops June 15th, 2018 — needless to say, we’ll be listening.
